Getting started with a free PHP IDE

Getting Started with a free PHP IDE is a 20-minute video that shows how I write and upload a simple PHP script to my web server and run it. I then demonstrate a free Windows tool that can use colours to highlight the code and edit files directly from your server. Finally, I show the integrated development environment that I use. I then go on to briefly discuss a video information product that is on sale that takes you through the installation of this IDE.

Watch it here:

Problems viewing the video? Download it here: php-ide.ogg and grab yourself a copy of VLC Media Player!

If you want to find out how to install the IDE in the video easily, you can buy PHP for Marketers now; one of the videos included with it is me installing all the necessary parts of it in a 25-minute video. Also included is my 77-minute webinar introducing PHP and providing many simple scripts that you can adapt for your own uses, and four videos by PHP expert Robert Plank. Continuity programme scam

I just found out about this through the Warrior Forum. There is some speculation that the thread will be deleted.

I don’t think this will affect most of my readership, who tend to be seasoned marketers. This concerns an advertising technique that is extremely dodgy. It’s not necessary to watch the whole video; I suggest you watch at least the first couple of minutes, especially if you are new to internet marketing.

I sell a continuity programme at the moment, but I’m completely up-front about what it is. This hides everything in the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page. It may be legal, but it is highly unethical.

It’s not me in the video.

Screen recording and webinars

Hi all,

Broefly, thanks to all those who made a purchase from my last
email. I really do appreciate it and I hope you feel that you’ve
had value.

I’ve found a couple of resources that I think are worth checking
out.

To make videos, everybody uses Camtasia Studio, right? Well, no,
actually. I’ve used CamStudio for a long time. It costs about $300
less than Camtasua Studio which costs about $300. (If anybody wants
to know how, I’m happy to create a video showing how it’s done; let
me know if you’re interested.) I’ve even composed footage for a DVD
with it that will be coming out soon.

I wanted to draw your attention to ScreenToaster which I’ve just
played with a little bit. It’s a little skimpy on the feature front
at the moment, but it’s another program that doesn’t cost anything,
and this time there is no installation to worry about. URL as
follows:

http://www.screentoaster.com/

The other thing is webinars. Everybody uses GoToWebinar, right?
Wrong. There are alternatives.

I’m checking out Dimdim at the moment. It’s free for up to 20
users, then there are charges that apply. You can get the source
code for free, so if you are patient enough to install it on your
own server and if you have enough bandwidth on it, you might be
able to run unlimited webinars for free – and from your own domain,
which means no leaking of private information of your clients.

Dimdim provide two tiers of access that are commercial if you want
to use their own service. I think it’s worth checking out:

Finally, just a brief note that the federal trade commission in the
USA is instituting new rules about affiliate promotions,
testimonials and similar. It seems to be the case that affiliate
marketers are going to have to reveal that they may get a reward if
a user clicks on an affiliate link. There’s also greater
restrictions on testimonials. You can use testimonials, but if they
claim any particular performance level then you also have to reveal
the average performance obtained by users of your product. These
are changes that will come into effect from 1st December 2009. As I
understand it, they will affect you even if you have a nexus in the
USA (i.e. any affiliates promoting your product).

Please bear in mind with regard to the above that I’m not based in
the USA. I have briefly given my understanding of the law. I’m also
not a lawyer. If you need legal advice, you need to consult a legal
professional.

Best regards,

David

PS I bought my wife a Vauxhall Meriva on the weekend. She’s still
learning to drive, but she should be finished soon. We weren’t
looking to spend money, but the perfect car at the right price came
up. What were we supposed to do?! :-)

PPS Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes in the above. It’s
late here in the UK!

Action Enforcer!* Wow! Have I got something for you today. If you struggle to get things done, yet you know that you have the time to do it, this is the tool for you.

The idea behind this tool is so basic, yet it really works well. You type into it a list of tasks that need to be done, and how long it will take to do them. It calculates how long it will take you to complete those tasks if you start working on them now. You click on the play button whenever you are doing a task, and you click on the tick when you have completed it.

Doesn’t sound like much, does it? But it helps you achieve focus. While you have a timer ticking away, you have set up a deadline in your mind. You are much more highly motivated to get that task done than if you didn’t have that deadline.

I’m speaking from experience here. I’ve used the tool for only a short time, yet I already have become more productive as a result of using it. My current situation is that I have a main job, a family with a one-year-old baby, and a couple of clients that I do a lot of work for. This all takes up a great deal of my time, so I need to use the rest of my time effectively to enhance my online marketing efforts. This is helping a great deal.

The only criticism I have as yet is that I’m not keen on the background graphics! But I can live with that.

Dennis has put up a very long sales page for this. I don’t know about you but I haven’t got the time to read long sales pages, so what I recommend is that you look for Dennis’s 6-minute video, play that, and then make a decision. Dennis provides a 60-day no-quibble satisfaction guarantee, so buy it, try it out, and if you don’t like it, ask him for a refund. I’m betting you won’t!

Income Fitness Review

Income Fitness* is Barbara Ling’s new training course. In it, she reveals the techniques she’s been using for 12 years to generate her online income.

This is a refreshing change from many products in that this one doesn’t make exaggerated claims like “you can make $129,867.23 amount of money in 24 hours.” How many of those have you picked up and then been disappointed when they didn’t work? There’s only two ways I know of to do that: either take a huge amount of time preparing your own huge product launch with an excellent joint venture broker on board, or have a huge mailing list to which you can market somebody’s product. Both methods take far longer than 24 hours to achieve that kind of payout in total.

Instead, Barbara takes you through the steps that will take a month or more to start building a successful business for you, but with the eventual aim of making you an authority for your chosen niche.

Much of the stuff is pretty basic, but whether you’ve never tried this stuff or you’ve been in the game for a long time and not made much money, you need to get the basics right. You may well have already purchased domain names, set up hosting, Wordpress blogs and plugins and got your social networking accounts set up, but if you still need to do any of those things then this guide will probably pay for itself pretty quickly.

There’s information on choosing the right Wordpress theme (look-and-feel) for your purposes, and adding the right plugins to your site. You’ll learn how to set up a free, quality service that will automatically email your new blog posts to your subscribers. Barbara will take you through exactly what you need to secure your Wordpress installation from hackers. That’s important; I’ve lost hundreds through having two of my sites hacked in the past. You’ll find out how to optimise your blog for the search engines; what plugins to use to give your blog social networking links; you’ll learn about a great editor for your Wordpress posts; and many other recommended plugins that add further functionality to Wordpress.

If you don’t have accounts with them, Barbara teaches you how to obtain affiliate accounts with the ClickBank, Commission Junction and LinkShare networks and the Amazon and eBay merchants, and recommends some other, less well-known affiliate networks.

You’re then shown how to efficiently view updates to many websites at one time by setting up a feed reader. You’ll learn exactly how to position yourself as an expert in your chosen niche by answering people’s questions on your subject quickly and easily by using little-known controls with various search engines, thereby finding obscure answers to questions where they already exist on the net. Finally, Barbara takes you through how to use the social networking sites to promote your own site.

The course consists of bite-sized chunks of information which can be absorbed in an initial reading and then used as reference later. I particularly like the fact that each point made is fairly small and concise, and an explanation is given, detailing the reason you should follow that piece of advice. Armed with that information, you know what each element of the course is trying to achieve, and it may be that you can use your own unique knowledge to do some things in a different way that may be even better than the techniques suggested.

This course will appeal to two types of person. If you are not already successful at internet marketing, this is a system that will get you there. As with any business model, you need to spend the time developing your site and getting traffic to it; it’s not a “get-rich-quick” scheme by any means. Since there are so many people out there trying to do the same thing, you need a competitive edge, and the information within this course will provide you with that. The second person to whom it will appeal is somebody who already has set up a niche website which is making a small amount of money, but perhaps lacks many of the features listed above. Although my business model is not quite the same as Barbara’s, I think there’s quite a bit of potential with these techniques. I don’t think this course will appeal to anybody who is already achieving a lot of success with their own efforts, so if you already consider yourself expert then this is probably not for you.

There’s an introductory discount available at the time of writing, so if you’re interested, I would head over and check it out now:

PHP Webinar

Hi all,

As many of you know, part of what I do is that I’m a professional software engineer with well over a decade of experience in the industry. What many of you don’t know is that I’ve done quite a bit with PHP as part of that experience, including a complete implementation of a membership website from scratch. I’m in talks with Dennis Becker of Earn1KaDay about running a webinar about simple PHP programming for web designers.

I’m not sure yet when I’m going to be able to do it, but I will be offering my mailing list subscribers the chance to join the webinar (at no charge). It will probably run for about an hour and it is planned to be scheduled for later in the year.

So far, I’ve come up with the following topics to talk about:

If this webinar would interest you, what I would like you to comment on this post with is any other things that you can think of that could constitute part of the material. I’m only going to be able to talk about things that are simple and quick to implement.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Many thanks.

David

Edit: The webinar has been scheduled for August 18th at 8:00 p.m. UK time (BST). For those of you in the USA, this is 3:00 p.m. eastern time; 2:00 p.m.central time; 1:00 p.m. mountain time and noon pacific time (all daylight saving times quoted). If you’re in another time zone, please use one of the time zone converters on the web to find out your time, bearing in mind that it is 8:00 p.m. (20:00) in British summer time, not GMT which is British winter time.

If the webinar is of interest to you, please sign up for it here. Please play the short video on the page for instructions regarding the two-step sign-up process.

There is no charge if you sign up for the webinar to get your copy, even if you cannot attend it live. Dennis and I will probably sell copies of the webinar content after it has been produced, so if you have any interest in it at all, I suggest you sign up now!

Please feel free to send the link to anybody who may be interested before the webinar takes place. Thanks.

Selling resale rights products

admin, 17 June 2009, No comments
Categories: About Us

I recently marketed the Warrior Tools to my mailing list. When I did that, I firstly did it without even putting up a sales page for it! I directed members of my list directly to the checkout.

The sales page is now set up, but what I really wanted to talk to you about this time was the ease with which I was able to get that resale rights product for which I had the rights to sell on my website, and start selling it.

Somebody asked me how to do this, and I thought it would be a good thing to explain.

I’ve used three different e-commerce systems in my time. I started off using the Motivated Marketing System. I had a lot of problems with that, and I had to quickly switch to JV Manager. JV Manager is good and powerful, but it can be a bit of a pain to set up new products in it. I decided to give E-Junkie a try, and that’s what I used to handle the e-commerce and fulfilment side of the order processing for this product.

All that was involved was simply to set up a new product within E-Junkie’s interface. E-Junkie provide secure sto’t get fulfilled. It can be configured to limit the number of downloads per user, and the amount of time for which the product can be downloaded.

With E-Junkie, you can even sell products without having a website. You can set up your own shop directly within their interface. You can also set up your own affiliate programme. It starts at $5 per month, but you get the first seven days as a free trial (for merchants – affiliates don’t have to pay). Imagine that; get affiliates selling for you! I’ve paid my best affiliate about $6k since I started selling online; it’s a very powerful lead generation method.

There are many more possibilities. DLGuard provides a similar
system, although I haven’t used it. John Delavera recently released
Delavo, which is basically JV Manager 3, and will also provide this
functionality. For a free, open source e-commerce system, you might
want to look at osCommerce.

The important thing I’d like you to take from this though is that it took me maybe a couple of hours or so to get this product ready for sale through E-Junkie and send a message to you through my mailing list. I had to decide on the price for which I would offer the product, set up the product in the interface, test that it worked when I placed a test purchase, prepare the email and send it out. I had quite a few orders from my email.

You may be concerned about the quality of resale rights products. Just because a product has resale rights attached to it does not mean necessarily that it is no good. I think there are three types of resale rights products:

You’ll want to ensure that any products you want to resell are quality products, of course, and make a good offer to any mailing list you have. If you don’t have a mailing list, you can use all the standard forms of traffic generation to generate leads, such as PPC, article marketing, forum marketing, etc. Or you can do both. You can use giveaway products for list-building as an ethical bribe if you prefer.

It’s possible to make money in many different ways on the net, and different ways suit different people. Be$$ing the merchant yourself sounds scary if you’ve never done it. However, let me assure you that it is easy, and it’s something that you should definitely consider trying if you’re struggling with other methods. It’s certainly the only method that’s ever made me more than pocket change!

Today, I’ve started an internet marketer’s resale club, which will provide internet marketing-related products for sale:

Until the next time,

DJT
